The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) has announced the winners of the 2024 Commercial Technologies for Maintenance Activities (CTMA) Technology Competition. Boston Engineering Corporation's Family of Sustainment Assisting Robotics (FOSAR) won the Overall Award, while the US Air Force's Surface Cleanliness Analyzer won the People’s Choice Award. These technologies aim to enhance maintenance and sustainment operations, supporting national defense and public good. The winners were selected from a competitive field for their innovation, effectiveness, and applicability in defense operations.

The US Air Force’s winning presentation featured the Surface Analyst from Brighton Science, highlighting its role in working to solve DOD challenges related to the cost of repairing adhesion-related failures. This tool enhances the accuracy and efficiency of surface cleanliness measurements, contributing to the maintenance and sustainment of critical defense systems. The use of the Surface Analyst will eliminate field and depot scrap, rework, and production delays related to poor adhesion and improper surface cleaning.

Congratulations to all the finalists, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the US Air Force and other branches of the military on these critical maintenance and sustainment operations.
